Milly the Maid

Milly is the daughter of Humphrey of Heath, a farmer from the tiny village of Heath in Bedfordshire. Milly is a bit ambitious and went into service in the hope of moving away from her farming background and as a result now has a much easier life earning a penny a day, sleeping in a warm, dry bed and only working 16 hours per day, 7 days a week. When Milly spends a little less time making sure that her hair is perfect, her pay may even rise to 1 penny and one shilling a day. But this doesn’t seem likely yet.

Milly’s Lord went on campaign in 1346 and has stayed on campaign and much of his household stayed with him. As a result Milly is currently an assistant cook and can usually be found in the cook’s tent.
